ABSTRACT
Background: The use of long-term contraceptive methods (LMPs) is still relatively low in Indonesia, including at the Nisam Health Center, North Aceh Regency. The low level of LMP selection is influenced by many factors, one of which is the effectiveness of family planning counseling. The implementation of Decision-Making Assistance Tools (ABPK) is one of the innovations to improve the quality of counseling and encourage fertile couples (PUS) to make appropriate contraceptive decisions.
Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between providing counseling using ABPK with the selection of long-term contraceptive methods in PUS at the Nisam Health Center, North Aceh Regency.
Methods: This type of research is quantitative analytical with cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 100 PUS selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, structured interviews, and secondary documentation, with the help of 5 trained enumerators. Data analysis was performed univariately and bivariately using the chi-square test.
Results: The results showed that most respondents received ABPK counseling in the moderate category (49%), and the choice of MKJP was also in the moderate category (64%). The chi-square test showed a significant relationship between counseling using ABPK and the choice of MKJP (p-value
