ABSTRACT

Background: Stunting is a condition of growth failure due to chronic malnutrition and repeated infections in early childhood.
Research Objective: To determine the factors influencing the incidence of stunting in toddlers in the working area of the Nisam Community Health Center, North Aceh Regency.
Research Method: This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A sample of 51 parents of toddlers was selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test.
Research Results: The results showed a significant relationship between maternal nutritional status during pregnancy (p = 0.012), parenting patterns (p = 0.028), socioeconomic factors (p = 0.048), and maternal knowledge (p = 0.018) and stunting incidence. Meanwhile, deworming (p = 0.104) and sanitation conditions (p = 0.867) did not show a significant relationship.
Conclusion: It can be concluded that the incidence of stunting is influenced by biological factors, parenting behaviors, socioeconomic factors, and maternal health education. Efforts to address stunting require a multisectoral approach, prioritizing nutrition education, strengthening the role of families, and improving access to basic services.
