Persepsi Wanita Terhadap Kanker Payudara Di Kecamatan Lueng Bata Kota Banda Aceh

Breast cancer is the third most infectious diseases in Aceh, and the majority of breast cancer patients had treatment delay period more than 3 months. Perception of breast cancer patients was determined in this breast cancer examination and treatment delay. This descriptive cross-sectional study was designed to examine the perception of women against breast cancer in the Lueng Bata district of Banda Aceh. Data collection was conducted with ninety nine respondents recruited from 9 villlages in Lueng Bata Districof Banda Aceh, Indonesia. The results found that the majority of respondents had a high negative score of perception about breast cancer (53.5%). The results also revealed that inadequate breast cancer screening performed by respondents.The negative perception about breast cancer was reported as an enormous barrier to access breast cancer screening. Health care provider should make an effort to change the negative perception about breast cancer because the positive perception is a facilitating factor in health system to prevent complications and improve the quality of life for women.
